The Group: the Student Leadership Initiative Committee
United by a love of music, Toronto culture, and a passion to make a difference, a group of high school students from across Toronto came together in September of 2005. We felt that although we are the leaders of today and tomorrow, youth are still ignored. Our group wanted to take action into our own hands, and most of all; we wanted to appeal to our generation.
SLIC believes that the ideal effort would be a benefit concert. Our hope is to combine every youth’s love for music with Toronto’s thriving music scene, and use it as a platform to relay the realities of child poverty and to encourage youth to act. What better way to promote a message than to have musicians, who teens look up to, advocating these principles?
